Where is Banner Island?

I grew up on a small strange city block in Seattle, WA. Surrounded by busy traffic on all sides, this little “island” of houses was full of artists and gardeners and weirdos, making beauty and community in the chaos of the city. We called our tiny neighborhood Banner Island, after Banner Way, the hidden narrow street that divided the houses and the freeway. At night the rush of cars on the interstate sounded like the ocean. That is what I think of when I am making these vessels for you: the special magic of making a serene place in (and with) our wild and busy world.
